Washing machine hookups

Hi all,

THis is probably a very silly question, but I'll ask anyway. Having been in tempory serviced accomadation my girlfriend and I are moving into a new place in a couple of weeks. We are thinking of buying a washing machine in the UK and having it shipped with all our other remaining stuff. Anyone forsee an issue with this? Other than the plug size, everything else will be compatable? I am not much of an electriciand/plumber!

The new place has hookups?  A dedicated place to put the machine?

Or will you need to create the hookups?

Washers here use 3/4" fittings, probably BSP.  I don't think you'll have any trouble.  Jumbo and Hornbach sell heaps of connectors and adapters if you were to need them.

It could be as simple as connecting the water hose and plugging the unit in.

Duncan, she does have a point.  Check your policy.  The continentals are not totally helpless; they're just vigilant.  I want to believe that.  Really.
