Re: Week away in July from Geneva - any ideas where to go?

There are really only a few options:
- Easyjet flight to anywhere. Just go to the site and check prices. Peak season will mean high prices, but there's no other option really.
- French coast. If you've seen the Cote d'Azur consider going further west, toward Montpellier/Toulouse, or even further as Rena suggested to the area around Bordeaux. Both areas have plenty to see (e.g. Carcassonne, St. Emilion) and can be reached by car in about 6-8 hours.
- Italian coast (west side). Possible a bit cheaper than France but not much. Portofina and around is beautiful but most expensive.
- Stay away from the coast, go for a lake. Places as close as Annecy (France) and the Garda Lake (Italy) are in comparison very cheap, and I'm sure you can find accomodation there that meets your criteria. They don't have sandy beaches though.
- If you're willing to travel a bit further, possibly Croatia (e.g. Pula, island) for even lower prices, but expect crowds even there.
