Post 1

There are lots of nice restaurants in/near Geneva; it's impossible to narrow it down without at least focusing on a specific cuisine (and maybe price range).

I'm not really an expert since I don't go to restaurants often, but here are mine:

* Top-end, I'd probably go with Parc des Eaux-Vives (the bistro is cheaper).

* For Chinese food I like the one in the Kempinski hotel

* For Japanese - Miyako (near the train station).

* Burgers - Club House (haven't been to Roadrunner and Holy Cow yet)

* Italian / Pizza: Several decent ones, none that really stand out. Maybe Da Paolo in Eaux-Vives if you don't mind the crowd and noise.

* Relais de l'Entrecote for beef with garlic butter and fries (I haven't been there in ages but liked it last time)

* Cafe de Peney is nice but I found the choice quite limited.

L'Esquisse   -    Best food I've eaten in Geneva, great fun atmosphere.

Mamounia - Fantastic couscous place, always eat too much, so good, can't stop.

Entrecote St Jean - Like t'other Entrecote, but a bit more funky.  Great atmosphere also, younger crowd.

restaurants are difficult to taste, it depends of personal taste...

my favourite. I'm not too much into restaurants, but I like :

chez cartouche, in the center of lully. Best malakoffs in the area and some nice cheese fondues.

Le café de Paris, near cornavin, but it's more because we go there each year with my family

La Colombière a small place in my village (Neydens, in France) where they serve delicious "filets de perches" (I love it and it's near me, that's why I love it).

Speaking of Holy Cow, tomorrow (Tue) we're featuring it on BuyClub. I admit that since it opened, I've been hitting it at least once a week...My favourite is the big beef burger with the Spicy Monkey sauce. Excellent.

I also love:

- Jeck's Place in Paquis for Thai

- Little India in Paquis for Indian

- La Tratoria near the train station for their Penne Arrabiata.

This thread is making me hungry...

I also recently developed a taste for the "all you can eat gambas" places in geneva. All these place are pretty much the same I think, but I tend to hit one called Le Furet close to Charmille. If you like Gambas and Garlic, and a lot of oil doesn't scare you, it's a decent place.

the mate is simple:

1 plate of gambas in oily sauce = 4 hours of gym.

I usually eat 3 plates per sitting. I do 1 sitting per week = 4 per month.

So in 1 month, I need 16 hours of gym just to burn off the gambas! And I didn't even start counting the Indian food and the burgers...(-;
