Where can I rent a not-so-expensive moving van in nearby French town?

We're moving to the south of France soon and are a bit concerned about how to move our stuff to there from Geneva without spending a fortune.

The problem is that since it's a 6h drive, we can't really drive there and back in the same day.  It may end up costing a bit in other words if we have to rent it for 2 days and then drive down again after having returned the van. Plus, it's very inconvenient of course.

So we were thinking that perhaps there are car rental chains that allow you to return the van in a different town from where you pick it up? Does anyone know of a company like that?

We're also considering the possibility of hiring a 'man with a van' so that we don't have to worry about returning the van. Although I suppose that will cost a fortune... (but so will hiring a van for 2 days)

Very grateful for advice!

Charlotta - there was a forum about this recently but cannot find it.  Only the well known companies will allow you to drop the vehicle off at another location but not sure if this applies to vans.   Someone reading this will probably remember the name of the other thread where somebody gave a list of all the cheap hire companies in Geneva

try sixt
they have a separate web site for van rentals
however, when you return a car in a different location in another country, they're very likely to charge you additionally... :(

Thanks for your advice, guys! I'll check with Sixt and Keep moving. Will also try to search for the glocals thread. Wish there was a magical way to make it cheap, but I guess there isn't one!
