Hi folks.
Any tips on where to buy a baby stroller in Geneva or the area?
I'm thinking of a Bugaboo Bee or Inlesina Zippy, so if anyone has some experience with either one I'd love to hear it.
Thanks alot

Hi Oded,
If you are looking to buy new, there are quite a few options for stores. The main ones include Orchestra, Autour de bébé, Aubert, and Manor.
If you are looking to buy second hand, you can try Baby Occas' in Pont d'Arve. This is a great second hand store and they seem to have a lot of things going in and out. There is also another second hand store - Habits Gaeille in Douvaine ( 15 mins past Vesenaz).
if you aren't too set on the Bugaboo or Inlesina, there is a second hand 'Quinny' for sale on bumpsnbubs.com.
Hope this helps :)

I'd strongly recommend a 2nd hand one. 1st hand ones are crazy on the price.
You can get 2nd hand ones in excellent condition, for half the price. The issue is psychological: most parents, especially for their 1st baby, can't stand the thought of using a carriage that other babies used before...(-:

And one more on strollers: don't be tempted to go for the top of the line ones, or for the bottom of the ladder ones. I'd go for a mid range one. They're good enough.
And 2 smaller tips:
- go for one that is easy to fold. You're likely to fold and unfold that carriage hundreds of times, often with a baby in one hand and groceries in another and car keys in your mouth, so each of folding makes a difference.
- ensure the handles are not too low, since you and your Mrs are both semi-tall. Low handles force you to push the carriage when you're a bit folded over, and it starts hurting the back after a while.

Thanks for the advice Uncle Nir.
I'd love a second hand stroller, but I've been over-ruled by the Mrs. :-)
We will indeed go for an easy to fold stroller with tall handlebars, and I'm keeping the receipt so junior can pay me back in a few years.

I got great advice from Au Berceau d'Or when I was stroller shopping: before purchasing a stroller, measure the elevator and make sure the stroller fits in the trunk of the car. At least for advice, I'd suggest going to a smaller store and asking questions about what strollers come back in often for repairs and for what type of repairs. What I learned from these answers was that expensive did not necessarily mean better quality.
I ended up with the Bugaboo Frog and never regretted it. Although it was expensive, I never had a problem with it, whereas many of my friends had strollers that broke within the first year.
Also, consider your lifestyle in terms of public transport or private car: some models are heavier or bulkier than others and more difficult to get on and off older buses (those with steps).
Good luck!

Great advice indeed, already posted above
Just wanted to add: Don't go shopping for a stroller in Geneva. Go to France instead. There is an Au Tour de Bebe near Annemasse. Also an Aubert in Etrembiers. It is even cheaper if you can go to Annecy.
Better to buy in France:
- The list price is almost certainly cheaper
- You have a tax refund. Because the tax in France is around 18%, here 8% you get about 8% off just because of that
- There are more promotions there. You can visit the
But don't buy online from France and ship it to Geneva. It will really cost a lot more than you think because of customs treatment fees
Good luck :)

Hello Seza,
Where do you propose going in Annecy?
The locals there doesn't seem to know if there's a big shop for babies. And since we like to go to annecy on a saturday, i don't mind checking out some of the shops there.
There's a bebe9 near Thoiry / anyone has been there? Any good paying a visit?
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you soon.
