Where to buy cycles?

Dear All,

I am sure that this has been discussed earlier but I could not find that thread. Can someone please direct me to that thread which gives information about shops from where I can buy a cycle?

Many thanks!

I assume you mean a bicycle.

There are lots of bike shops in Geneva and it depends a lot what you're looking for. There's one in Carouge (corner of Rue de la Fontenette and Av. du Cardinal-Mermillod) that has a good selection of 2nd-hand bikes, and you could also look at a shop in Les Grottes for that (I think at Rue du Cercle, behind the salvation army building).

At Rue des Acacias (next to Office Max) there's a big bike shop that probably has well-priced new bikes, and there are also several in France (e.g. Ville-les-Grand near Annemasse). For newer and more upscale bikes there are some shops in the center.

Many thanks for the information, Edward! :)

I am not looking for a bicycle to commute. I am looking for a bicycle which can be used for long trips. Hopefully, these shops may be able to help me.

 Hi Rohit,

I would recommend Peclot 13, they seem to specialise in repair and second hand bikes: http://www.peclot13.ch/html/

Went there for a repair and they were very good. It's some kind of collective with several shops around town.

As Edward mentioned, the place on Rte des Acacias is very good.  Big warehouse called Veloland.

Great selection of all bikes, some second hand at the back, everything you can need re biking, very helpful passionate staff and all at reasonable prices.

I recommend Hors Piste (rue du Stand) and Hot Point (rue des Pâquis).

They have a variety of quality bikes, and the staff is very helpful.

But, as said before, there are plenty of places where to buy bicycles from: Garufi, Jean Brun, Girard, Bike Store, Bikeswitzerland...

If you need specific information, I woud recommend going to a small shop (like the first ones I mentionned), which is owned by people for whom cycling is also a passion.

I fear that places like Veloland are only interested in selling bikes, not riding them (but I could be wrong, I've never been there)
