I highly recommend Phoenix Vauban.

Nearly all their properties are in France, they put you in direct contact with the owners (very few owners lease directly in this region, in my understanding). They do tend to feature pricier properties, but first off, their service is top-shelf no matter what property you take in their price range, and second off, at the lower end, it's still *much* cheaper than Geneva for what you get. The owners of Phoenix Vauban have lived as expats themselves, speak English, and are very well versed in the various needs of expats.

haha, sorry, I read this as "I am definitely searching for an apt in France." - my bad! Phoenix Vauban only rarely feature properties on the Geneva side of the border (though they do have flats literally *on* the border, maybe 50-100m from CH, if that's of interest). If not, apologies for the mis-read!

We advertise on glocals, world radio switzerland, anibis.ch, tutti.ch and we are the owners of our apartment and we dont involve regie. Our apartment is currently available.

Just out of curiosity, why dont you want to go through the regie?

Anyway you can find them in the same sites as the ones with regies (glocals, anibis, wrs, immoscout...). It just depends on your luck I have a collegue who always gets her appartments (past 10 years moved twice) and she always rents from the owner found the first on anibis, second one on glocals.

Because i am not in the position to present a perfect dossier like they all want. i do not even stand a chance between all the others applying.

Well.since i have to leave my apartment by september, i guess i will end up living under a bridge then. my situation seems hopeless.

Go to websites like petitesannonces.ch or anibis.ch, go to "immobilier" section, "location" section, "geneve" or city where you want to rent, and type "propriétaire" in the search line. This would normally give you all the appartments rented directly by the owners. Good luck ;)

After hours and hours of searching and contacting several people, and a lot of disappointments, i am happy to tell you that finally i have found a private rental, and even signed my contract within 2 days.

Not through the tips listed here unfortunately, but because i have been contacted by a person that offered me his services for a half months rent.

Apparently connections is the only way to go in this town.
So that would be my tip for all the others out there who have trouble finding an apartment...
