Where to get a cat in Geneva?

Hello everyone,

I was trying to adopt a kitten in Geneva but seems impossible to find  puppies here unless you are willing to pay for it... I would like much more to rescue a kitten in need!

Does anyone have a clue if there are website / FB pages / shelters with people giving cats in Gva?

Thanks!

GHI classified ads: at least you can see the cat's native environment and see if its pets/children/humans friendly plus if it is going to more of an indoors/outdoors cat depending on birth place.

As well as SOS chats you could try SPA where you can find dogs and cats.

In both these places you wil have to pay a fee, this covers various  medical care and tests so you can be sure the cat is healthy + any mandatory vaccinations the cat will have had.

If you get one privately you will have to pay this from your own pocket.

It also of course helps the refuge with costs so it can continue to take in other animals.

You will be sure that the kitten is healthy, is not FIV (unless you are okay with that, because you can aso adopt those too from these places often), or otherwise virus laden and that their eyes are not infected neccessitating treatment from a vet.

Otherwise as Hay_  suggests ghi ads, or else even in local supermarkets there are from time to time ads. On here also, but is less frequent.

oh.. and if you get one privately, make sure the kitten is at least 2 months old (when they are fully weaned).

They are not equipped psychologically to be independant enough before this age and could develop behavoral problems.

They also will not have been socialized enough with their fellow kittens to learn to 'play fght' and  'play bite'. i.e release and not clamp on and not let go.

You will appreciate this during the cat's life when it plays with you..
