Where to go to apply for work permit?

Hello, 


I recently moved to france from the UK with my patner. He works in Geneva and has a work permit which his comapny gave to him before we moved. I am also looking to work in Geneva but I  need a work permit.


When applying for a job one company told that as I have a British natiionality getting a permit will not be difficult and the company that employes me will apply for one, however,  another company said that I should already have one prior to the job. 


If that is the case where can I go to apply for a work permit?

Sam is right, and that is what you mentioned that one company told you. Then you added that "another company said that I should already have one prior to the job." What they meant to tell you is that they want to hire someone who already has a work permit, and not apply for one for you. There are some who by being a spouse of someone holding a carte de legitimation (employees of the UN system) or another circumstance, already hold a permit.

Go at 7.30am as there is always a 4 hours queue.
