Where to look for a job? (international organizations, ngo´s..)

Hi,

I would like to ask for some advice. I have some experience from different ngo´s and different countries, but because I don´t know Geneva so much – I just know, that it´s a beautiful city, where can I look for and find the organizations where my experience could be useful and appreciated?

I have been involved with West Africa for a number of years through a Czech NGO implementing humanitarian projects in the area. Since 2005, I have conducted several monitoring missions in Guinea to oversee the NGO’s educational and public health projects

I am currently taking a master’s degree in African studies within the Faculty of Political Sciences (distance leasing), with my main area of study focusing on conflict resolution and politics. My first University degree is in Economics and Public Administration.

My interest in conflict resolution and Africa has naturally led me to broader interest in human rights in general and I am currently participating in a one-year European Voluntary Service programme in Georgia, where, apart from my NGO volunteering duties, I am looking into the situation and conflict resolution trends and prospects in the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

For the past three years I have been working in several commercial companies, tasked mainly to compile media reviews, prepare reports, position papers, information summaries and presentations on various aspects of the political and economics situation in Central and Eastern Europe.

Apart from native Czech, I speak English, have a working knowledge of French, moderately advanced Russian, and basic German.

Thank you

Tereza

Congratulations Terri, for all you have done and achieved!

I think you would be an excellent candidate for some of the United Nations organizations.

I do not know the exact link to 'vacant jobs' but you can explore via:http://www.unsystem.org/

....... crossing fingers for you!!

Hi Terri,

Yes! there is lots of people looking for jobs, but the first thing to do
-if I may- is to trust that You are -at least- as qualified and Not less-qualified.

What I see -most- of the time,
is that everyone is qualified and then there is some dose of good luck and circumstances for the one who gets the job.

So... best of luck!
