Thanks for your reply in advance!
I would suggest Annemasse which close to Geneva.
As for Geneva, Ferney-Voltaire for groceries, Divonne for bling. Sorry, no idea about Lausanne. If you want to go all out, Lyon (second-biggest city in France) is only a two-hour ride by car.

It’s further away, but if you want a real shopping experience, go to Lyon which has everything you could possibly want, not to mention that the restaurantsare also worth the ride.
The other suggestions are fine for foodstuffs and minor household purchases but they’re small towns. Annecy has a wider and more varied choice of goods, with shops selling items such as material for dressmaking, curtains, etc., traditional wedding hats, fine leather gloves and so on.
Its flea market on the last Saturday morning in the month is also a great attraction.
Happy hunting, R.

I second what Ritchie said: Lyon is great: a nice pedestrian center that is quite compact, and when the shops close you have a drink or meal in the old town.

For clothing, for instance, I'd go to Annecy, which is not so far.

I'd also say Annecy, it's much closer, very nice, etc.
if you look for something very specific you might find it more easily in Lyon.
For food, if you come from the Lausanne area, Divonne is just a bit nearer than Ferney, and has the advantage to have a good butcher.
