I wonder if anybody can help me. I am moving to Geneva next month and my girlfriend would like to join me for the summer but is concerned that she will not be able to find a job in Geneva. Although fluent in English and Hungarian she speaks next to know French. Is this likely to prevent her from getting a job in say an English/Irish Bar or hotel? She is a law student and is just looking for a summer job.
Any tips or advice would be massively appreciated!

As a student / visitor its probably illegal for her to work here without a permit.
As a short term visitor, its unlikely she will get a permit unless sponsored by a company before arriving...
There would seem to be already a few people "with permits" looking for such jobs, so sadly I would have to say dont hold your breath.

if she is a student at university of Geneva, she should try to get the position of assistant for pofessor and speak to different lectureres. Normally they have openings available and english will do.
