Winter clothes
Hi!

Where can I find good&warm winter clothes for a reasonable price? I am a Brazilian heading to Geneva in January and very afraid of freezing!! I don't have anything, so I'll need any advice: from gloves to socks and coats.

:D Thanks!

If you arrive in January, it should be no problem finding reasonably priced winter clothes, as there will be sales everywhere. The prize depends a bit on what kind of thing and quality you're looking for, skiing clothes or just ordinary clothes.

And... it's cold here but not arctic, so you can wear your usual jeans and just put on long underwear. The most important will be a good coat or jacket, and maybe a woolen sweater or 2.

Hope you'll like it here!

Manor (Manor - Genève - www.manor.ch
rue de Cornavin 6, Genève - +41 22 909 46 99) would be your best option, and there you can find anything from gloves to socks for a reasonable price and as the previous poster rightly mentioned you are coming exactly on time for the good sales. Btw, I am from hot country and it is very cold for me so I just bought a doudone from Manor for about 129CHF (just to give you an idea).  Of course, it is not arctic, but still very cold, brrr.

of course, if you are looking for more fashionable cloths you might want to visit Zara, HM, etc, etc. in  a shopping center such as Balexert

We walked through the town centre on Saturday afternoon and were amazed at the sales...

If you are based in the centre of town, you will find a lot of small & individual boutiques pretty much everywhere, and they all appear to be holding good sales this year.  Check along rue de la Madeleine/rue du Vieux College for a few examples (parallel to the main shopping street - think it's the same streets where you will find H&M and Zara).

Alternatively - make an excuse of it like we did - and go to Milan shopping.  Great sales there too :- )
