Woman verbally assaulted at Geneva Arts Kool and the Gang

Well, even after the negative experience with Shaggy Monday I thought I'd give it another go last night with Kool and the Gang. But what I saw was just too much.

Concert had started, was by entrance, woman comes rushing in late, gets bag checked and bald security guard (he stood out because the others seem to be averaged 13 years old) told her no. She said it was to celebrate a bday but he refused saying we even have bottles of champagne in that bin there, nothing allowed in. She puts bottles right on the top of the full bin and goes in.

After can't have been more than 5 minutes she comes out to leave, goes to the bin to retrieve her bottles - they'd disappeared. I didn't see where they'd gone. Bald guy says you can't take stuff out of the bin, I think she says But i'm leaving, can't find my friends, and want to take it back, i've only been 5 minutes. She then looks at bin- as i did - and says 'where is it anyway?'. Guy says you can't have it .... looks like they've 'put it aside'... yeah right. She calls him a thief and starts to walk off, he miraculously produces one of the bottles and a struggle ensues as he won't let her have it and she's trying to take it out of his hand, calling him a liar at the same time. Then he lets go and she gets smacked in the face with the bottle. Woman then smacks him on the arm! (at this point I'm thinking 'wow, go girl') still calling him a thief and walks off. Seems to remember she had another bottle goes back and asks for it and he basically calls her some nasty words and tells her to f off. She seemed like a nice, middle-aged pleasant woman who was very offended that security seemed to have 'lost' her drinks. And i have to say that's what it looked like to me - put aside for them to divvie up later.

Absolutely shocking. Concert was pretty good though.

It is shocking indeed, espcially coming from a staff member.

She or anyone who had witnessed the scene, should have called the police right away. I know it is pretty terrible since you probably do not speak French, and you were probably taken aback.

Police emergency number 117 -

I know they probably won't do anything, unless the "victim" is willing to report the case, which she definitely should of course !

This woman should report this cretin to the organisers. Say that such behaviour from a security guard gives a very poor impression of Geneva and she and her friends will boycott this festival going forward.

A lot of the security guards are very poorly trained, sometimes have police records and seem to think that they can get away with anything. I once witnessed a person being beaten up badly by security guards in front of a night club here in GEneva. What shocked me more than anything else was that no one in the queue was reacting. No one had even called the police. My friends and I intervened verbally and told them that we were going to call the police which we then did. We were all female and none of the men could look us in the eye when I told them that they should be ashamd of themselves.

Police eventually came and asked me to identify the security guards. However, the obnoxious security guards had vanished and owner of nightclub pretended they had never worked there. We later discovered that these security guards were all frontaliers with police records!!! Scary!
