Wood doctor for scatches and dents on parquet floor

Decided to start a new thread since the last post about this was 4 years ago...

Could anyone recommend a person/place in Geneva or nearby where they are able to fix scratches and dents on parquet flooring?  I had the concierge come in with a *specialist* who quoted a polishing of my hallway (only!) that will cost 1044CHF in total for a total area of about 12m2.  Preferably with English speaking staff please.

Has anyone tried http://wood-art.ch?  It was recommended 4 years ago and stated as expensive.  How expensive is it?  The website does not have much information and has no rates stated at all.

Thanks in advance!

If you're reasonably good with your hands, or know someone who is, you can probably fix it yourself.

A steam iron will normally fix dents, small scratches can be "coloured-in" (walnuts work well; otherwise a little stain and / or varnish), and larger scratches can be sanded then stained and varnished.  This all depends on the scale of the damage, of course, but it's really no different to what a professional will do.

There's lots of "how-to" guides on-line.

Hope this helps,

Andy

Hi,

I did a complete renovation and for 60m2 of parquet in Geneva it was 1400chf. It was a swiss based guy called Raymond Humbert [email protected]

I recommend him - he did a 3 level sand and 3 layer varnish. I'm sure he can sort out smaller issues too.

Thank you very much Kirk, this Raymond guy sounds like a great contact to check out.  "Swiss-based" - I guess he speaks English.

Andy, thank you too for the suggestion - indeed I have checked out the guides online and will be buying some self-fixing material for other areas...  But the hallway is covered with dints and scatches caused by the damaged stiletto heel of a subtenant (i.e, the rubber / plastic part of the heel was worn off, exposing the metal part of the heel that can really damage a wooden floor).  And it is too much for me to repair dint by dint.

Thank you both very much for the useful suggestions! :)  And to me Glocals is a great site to offer this sort of helpful forum! Have a great week everyone!

I had used twice Coudray de Vito SA

When I was moving out, the regie did their inspection and indicated I must redo the floors, the floors looked very good, but they complained about a few scratches in the hall and bedrooms. So I had Coudray de Vito SA do 38m and cost me CHF 2112- (incl TVA). I also use the same company for a 7.6 or 10m area and charged me CHF 687- (incl. TVA) and another appartment.

Just beware that after I had the floor repaired, like brand new, they complained that it was not same color as the living room, and demanded the whole 100m area (CHF 3500 without TVA) of the apartment. I refused and went to ASLOCA and then went to the court 'Tribunal des Bailes' and from another company inspection and photos, showed that the boarder between the 3beedrooms/hall way to the Kitchen/living room was totally ok and resurfacing was not necessary. Further I had photos of the follors when I moved in and proved that the floors were not perfect. So take photos, of floors, walls, bathrooms and kitchen when moving in and out.

So the Regies will try but you can always contest it. But in the end, my CHF 2112 was paid by the insurance company Winterthur less the deductible.

Thanks Dave...  I have insurance but I think I took the most basic one with Zurich....  think it may by too late to upgrade it now esp if the floor is already scratched.  But yes, your quotes are like the ones I got from the regie's contact...  I did take the "before" pictures when I moved in, so I know these new scratches are caused under my care... Thanks!
