aerobics

Hi there.

I really would like to be more sporty. Since I moved to Switzerland I have lost all my daily routine. I was dancing, jogging, swimming, doing aerobics. But now I don't do anything and I really feel bad about it.

Especially now when I have so much free time cause I don't work at the moment.

So I was wondering maybe you know some normal swimming pool(at least 50 m long) in town(geneva) where I could go or some sports club where I could attend aerobics classes?

Where do You spend your free time?

Thanks.

cheers.

eva.

Oh, if it's not our long-legged friend ;)

Eva, I can't speak for indoor swimming pools, but in summer the lake turns into one-gigantic-outdoor-swimming-pool, lots of swimming to do there! As for aerobics, most gym offer aerobics classes and have summer months offers so just join a gym. I go to Silhouette and all their classes are included in the subscription.

Speaking of dancing, we are throwing a big party in Geneva this weekend. Drop by!

Hi Eva,

I was in the exact same position when I moved here from the United States -- I really missed my gym classes, especially.  I know the big gyms like Holmes and Silhouette offer classes and small pools, and there is a very large public pool near the UN.

As for jogging, if you enjoy running or walking with groups of social people, I think you should try out the Geneva Hash House Harriers (www.genevahhh.com).  I have been jogging with them since I moved here, and easily accredit the group for introducing me to the nicest people in Geneva, as well as showing me cool and unexpected running trails throughout the city (the trail changes every Monday and Wednesday, depending on who has set it).

In any event, I have learned that Geneva has a multitude of sports activities -- ranging from super expensive in the gyms here to free running groups and other sports events posted on this site.

Welcome :)

Desiree

desiree,thanks a lot. :)

yes,i love jogging, but i have some problem with my knee -after like 4 km it starts to ache so much,so i suppose i should do something else.

catalin-haha...yes.yes. the same leggy-latvian :D  haha.. so looks like I am unforgettable :p

yea.but usually those gym classes are pretty expensive. as everything in switzerland. and the weather is so great so i probably should find something to do outside.

and speaking about the lake..it is good ,yes, but if i want to swim like 1-2 km..you know what it means?! it means i have to make like 100 small rounds or swim to the other side. but it is a bit dangerous and not such a good idea i think..

i will maybe check in University offers some aerobics..

ok.thanks for the link. will check. who knows..maybe see you there :P

Eva, yes you are!

If you are on a budget I guess it's best to focus on outdoor activities. You can also do hiking, it's good exercise, beautiful nature and maybe easier on that knee. With regards to swimming, you can also swim parallel with the shore for as long as you want and when you get tired you just swim to the shore.

See you a the the party ;)
