Y'all be nice to Alex, he may turn out to be the next glocal star!
Alex, getting to know Geneva means getting to know a lot of places, activities and people.
And it's better to find a "date" or a "serious relationship" in a group of like-minded people. As Reka points out, there are dating sites but this is not one.
This is not facebook either. The idea is to actually create a liaison between international and Swiss people within a local community so you come here unknown and you make some great friends and even discover yourself a bit more.
You arrive, you see what's happening here and bit by bit, you contribute to it yourself. Tomorrow morning is the official end of summer, marked by the cows coming back down from the mountain pastures. If you live near a farmer, you'll note that the milk tastes differently in the winter. But soon it is time for hot chestnuts sold in the streets, for hot wine, for fondue and raclette, for the Escalade and cozy autumn restaurants, theatre, symphony, museums and hikes in vineyards. This is followed by the amazing ski season (don't waste a week-end in the city, unless you have a good reason).
Glocals is a global community of people in a certain locality (hence "glocals") who form the network of support in the form of forums, exchanges, meetings, activities, etcetera. They help each other adapt to a new place by discovering it together. The founders, Nir and Oded, have created a springboard for happiness and you create your own formula for finding that happiness.
It is not easy being alone in a foreign town, but you are not as alone as you think. Other people, especially in Geneva, would love to get to know you.
Contact Nir or Oded (site admin) to get set up properly and then look through the website and start contributing to it.
Best of luck and success with your studies.
