co-ed soccer team/pick-up games in geneva?

hi all,

i am moving to geneva in september (for grad school) and i am hoping to find a co-ed (preferably) or female-only group that gets together regularly to play soccer at a decent level...i'm interested in either a team that you pay to be on with a schedule for games or just regular pick-up games around the city.

i'm moving from boston and i've played on co-ed teams here for the two years i lived here (and i played for many years before moving here).  i hope to be able to find the same kind of fun group in geneva.  can you help?  :)

Hi Diane,

If you're looking for a female soccer club...have a look at this site:

http://www.football.ch/acgf/fr/Football_feminin.aspx

It pretty much lists all the clubs that have a female team in the Geneva area. I played soccer on my school team in Geneva and at University in the UK...so I'm not an expert on the club front here...however I know people that played for both Nyon and Chênois...and have heard that the standard is very good and depending which team you're on it gets pretty serious.

In any case...if you want to...be in touch when you get to Geneva...am sure I can get a decent bunch together for a kick about. Also...you should browse the glocals "groups" or "things to do"...pretty sure I spotted a group somewhere that regularly kicks about in one of the parks here!

Hope that helps!

From what I know (it was some years ago but I doubt very much it changed), the best team in gva was by far CS Chenoix.

Their stadium is really not in the center of the city however, so it might depends where you're living.

Hi Julia,

I'm now in Geneva!  When do you and your friends get together to play pick-up?  I'd love to come by!

Thanks,

Diane

Hey guys!

Diane - sorry I haven't been in touch earlier...been a busy couple of weeks for me.

Considering that there are now a couple of you that are interested on here...I want to try to sort out a regular indoor soccer session...once a week in the evening on a work day. A couple of friends of mine that I kick around with occasionally are interested too. What do you all think? Drop me a line with your email address and I'll create a mailing list and keep you in the loop.

Sound like a plan? Would be really good to get something going for those dark winter evenings after work!

Be in touch!

hey julia.

i'd love to get together once a week to play, but it will depend on how much something like this would cost...you know, being a student and all :)

anyways, i'm done with class most days at 6 so 7pm would be best for me (although thursdays im done at 4).  how about for your friends?  would this be a co-ed group?  i could ask some of my new friends if they'd be interested.  how else can i help look into the possibility of playing indoors?

here's my email address for future reference:  [email protected]

Thanks!
