Re: glocals Competition: Shadow Land free tickets

My shadow’s a bit of a fair-weather friend,
It’s something I’ve always found funny.
She’ll disappear off when I’m down or life’s dark,
But jump right back out when it’s sunny.
But oh, how she can keep me amused,
Those long summer BBQ days,
When I sit, immune to the drink in my hand,
And she climbs through her alcohol haze.
I’ve seen her dance on tables and chairs,
Falling off in a regular fashion;
Trying to pretend it was just part of the move,
And carrying on with full passion.
I’ve seen her wearing a traffic cone,
‘cause it seemed a good idea at the time,
and then flirting like crazy with the local police
as she wormed her way out of a fine.
I’ve seen her phone that ex-boyfriend up,
And profess her undying lust,
And I’ve had to sort out the mess the next day,
Once her alcohol high has gone bust.
But the strangest think my shadow’s ever done
Is carry out all of this on her own
‘cause I would NEVER join in such a thing
Even though I never leave her alone!
