I wish I knew, but I didn't become cool until the late 2000s or early 2010s, which was much too late have have a shot at Jennifer Connelly (or wait - was that 80s?).

I have no idea what it took to be cool in the 1990s, but no way did it include the Backstreet Boys or New Kids on the Block, except maybe attached to my dart board.

(I have no interest in the tickets, but I'll do my bit to inspire others).

LOL, ohhh Nir, let's see.

To be cool in the 90's, your had to insert "NKOTB" casually into sentences, as if it were not one of the most awkward-sounding acronyms ever.  And daily.

To be cool in the 90's, you had to
coordinate rolled up denim shorts with flannel, PERHAPS along with sandals and socks.  Perhaps...depending on the side of the cafeteria you were allowed to sit in.

Two for one, darling.

I won't even think about the coolest answer because I can't make it to the concert. Anyway, I was a great fan of BSB, I knew all their songs by heart when I was 13... too bad... Frown

Yes, well Charlie may have also fallen asleep under the watchful eyes of those studs as well, but can he vouch for the t-shirt clip ring? Did he have a hair crimper? Were his rolled socks in alternating shades of pink and white to correspond perfectly with his rolled sleeves?

Des: I think Charlie had all of those things, and in fact I believe I saw him just last week in town with the hair crimper with the NKOTB branding. Honestly! OK, seriously - your post made me smile big time...Foot in mouth

Ottavia: Sound-Check party is also on Thu, just before the concert. And true, the initial question was simple. Let's up it a notch: which US city has an official BSB day? Googling now allowed.

Being born in the 'city' where the king of grunge and his band started in a garage (there's a little trivia question for you, Nir) - there were several ways to be cool. Where I spent my formative years, this was definitely the cool look of the 90's - and, unfortunately, still continues...:

By the way, the pics you posted look hilarious, except the middle one with that handsome guy with the cool hair.

Was that an answer? It's still a more difficult question that your first BSB question - and has yet to be answered.

Is it me, or could the hansome guy in the middle be brothers with the guy on the bottom? Bring the mullet back, Nir - and the matching poodle!

Voila! It takes a big man to admit defeat Wink

Google has shared its knowledge once again to the benefit of mankind and glorified a city not only famous for my birth 30 some years ago -  but for a man who formed a band and became the poster child of a movement.

For all the Seattlelites of the era, here's what was chic (frequently combined with the above Mullets):

OMG its BSB! I heart them still!

To be cool in the 90's You had to be totally down with The Fresh Prince and know the lyrics to theme.-.

"now this is a story all about how my life got flipped turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute so just sit right there, I'l tell you how l became the prince of a town called Bel-Air .. In West Phiiladelphia"

With a bit of swag, rapping to this in our Dr Martens and favourite tie-dye t-shirt.. oh my, how .tragic (I do have photgraphic evidence of me and my fellow teenie boppers, but posting it here - um, no.)

And of course this was not cool...

but still gotta love it!

To be cool in the 90's, you had to have a power rangers suit and know off by heart the macarena and Saturday Night by Whigfield! Do people still get excited when it comes on in a club?

Not forgetting spending hours on tetris on your Gameboy and lets's face it.

To be cool in the 90's you had to listen to the tape-recorded songs on your walkman by wearing colourful elastic leggins with loose-fitting pullover and of course to be a real fan member of The Kelly Family which meant to have a looooooooooooooooooooooong hair.

To be cool in the 90's, you had to:

- own a Game Boy (and at least 20 games)

- find it actually worth getting up early on a Saturday morning to watch cartoons

- to dare calling the radio station to request your favourite NKOTB song to hear it on your Walkman

- know the Macarena by heart

.... and your father had one of those FIRST mobile phones which looked more like a mini-Samsonite!

To be cool in the 90s, you had to say a Spanish phrase in a Germanic accent from an American film by a Canadian director....only then, a big boom would save the world.

To be cool in the 90s you had to be able to sing the opening song of the "Fresh prince of Bel Air" as you were walking to your school.

I really really would loooovvvve to win...Smile

To be cool in the 90's, your had to own the entire Backstreet Boys back catalogue.

Spend Saturday mornings watching Live and Kicking and then CD UK- and like me, you rang up the hotline - got tickets to the Saturday live show, stood next to host Cat Deeley and went into school on Monday and was the sh!t signing 'autographs' cos u crashed the stage when Terrorvision were performing...ahhh. *sigh* oh to be 15!!Cringe.

You planned to meet up with all your mates in the Year 2000 - cos won't it be strange when we're all fully grown? - Pulp rocked, Damon Albarn was the hip and Oasis were definitely maybe awesome!

And then along came BSB and everyone knew the dance to Everybody (Backstreet's Back) well, if you were cool. I can still pop out those moves.

Am I original...? yeahhhh

Am I the only one...? yeaaahh!

Am I sexual?  Yeaaahh!

Am I everything you need,

Nir let me win those tickets pleaase!

Everybody!! Yeaah!

BSB-  I heart you!

OK, I have the winners' names:

(winners: could you pls email me your full name via glocals. I'll reply with show details).

1. Grand winner: Duda, for bringing up the 1st mobile phones. They were a status symbol then, they remain a status symbol today in their new iPhone form, and they'll probably remain a status simple for a long time...

2. Kira Burk for not being afraid to post a pic of what she really looked like back then, and for confirming she'll dress up the same way tomorrow.

3. Thomas NL for bringing up the sounds most of us dreaded in the 90s...

4. Rachel G for getting all the 90s buzz-words into a poem.

I asked Opus1 to see if there's a way we could have a few more free tickets, cos some of the other posts are terrific and I'd love to reward them (the Mullet stuff, the Macarena reference, etc). Will post an update if this works, can't promise.

Enjoy the show!

Nir

Guys! Here there are! Sorry for the delay - ENJOY!

It was an amazing moment, back to memory lane :)
The teenage in me resurfaced and it was all about screaming, singing and dancing the long time memorized choreographies! Who knew I still remembered those and who thought being 5 months pregnant I would have been able to last that long! Simply great and FUN!

PS: To Arun K V: I think the image where I stand in between them will be enough of a proof that it was not a scam at all :) Thank you "big bro Nir"!!

okay! Finally!  Here is my PROOF!

You can't see my ENTIRE outfit in these, but I assure you, it was 90's worthy.

Thanks again Nir for making all our dreams come true by making it possible for us to attend this concert =).

I touched Nick Carter's hand...something I have wanted since I was 13.  It was lifechanging. Wink

Hope everyone has a great week!
