health insurance card for "frontaliers"

Hi!

I'm health insured with "mutuelle des frontaliers" and received a paper "carte tiers-payant".

Question: don't they issue a health insurance in credit card format? If no, what do I do if I fall ill abroad, where they don't speak / read French and don't know what this "carte tiers-payant" is?

Keep this card, it allows you to to to the chemist without having to pay for the prescription ( unless some of it is not reimbursed, then you would have to add the extra).  Usually, if you go to the same chemist, they would keep your details, if you go the another chemist, you would have to hand it ut again.  You won't have that credit card format, that one is for those living and working in France, not frontaliers.

I think that if anything happened abroad, you have to keep your medical bills and get reimbursed in France.  Although, if you ever have an accident abroad or not, whilst on holiday or not, your accident work Insurance covers, you need to let your work know, then they would contact the work Insurance too.
