housing

Hi, we will move in a couple of month to Geneva. Our daughter will go to school in Versoix. Which are the villages to live without noise pollution (airplane)? Thanks for your help.

Ferney-Voltaire in France is pretty quiet. In fact, although I have the airport landing strip in plain view, the road is more noisy.

How far from Versoix are you prepared to live and do you want a train station near you?

45 minutes by train will get you quite a long way out and from my recent experience of apartment searching, the further from Geneva you go the easier it gets to find accommodation.

If you go onto the sbb.ch website you can look up the train that comes into Geneva (through Versoix) from the north and double check which towns and villages have the best service. When we were looking we really liked Nyon (lots to do and a lovely waterfront), Gland, Begnins (lovely village but a short drive to Gland station, Rolle, Aubonne. All of these towns and villages are quiet and have good public transport to Geneva and Versoix and are also very close to the motorway. There are some villages/areas closer to Versoix like Coppet, Founex but I am not sure how much accommodation would be available at these places.

Hope this helps.
