Avi_ - yes, it should be possible via the unlocking efforts of the iPhone Dev Team and an app called Pwnage Tool; full info is at http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/211802082/pwnage-pie

No clue if it's a good tip or not, but I saw a shop advertising they unlock iphones.
They are rue de Lausanne, if you're walking from the railway station, it's like 200m after "les cygnes", the shopping mall.

Yes ! it is possible . In which network your iPhone 3gs is locked to ? Contact your servcie provider to deliver unlocking servce for you or get Remote unlocking method from any of the online vendors like Wickedunlock.com to unlock your iPhone 3gs .
