job in UN

Dear all,

I am looking for a job in UN. I know it is not easy, but because of this I am trying it this way as well.

I have been involved with West Africa for a number of years through a Czech NGO implementing humanitarian projects in the area. Since 2005, I have conducted several monitoring missions in Guinea to oversee the NGO’s educational and public health projects. In Czech Republic I coordinated psycho-social activities for refugee children.

I am currently taking a master’s degree in African studies within the Faculty of Political Sciences (distance learning), with my main area of study focusing on conflict resolution and politics. My first University degree is in Economics and Public Administration.

My interest in conflict resolution and Africa has naturally led me to broader interest in human rights in general and I am currently participating in a one-year European Voluntary Service programme in Georgia, where, apart from my NGO volunteering duties - working with IDPs, monitoring of projects, I am looking into the situation and conflict resolution trends and prospects in the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

For the past three years I have been working in several commercial companies, tasked mainly to compile media reviews, prepare reports, position papers, information summaries and presentations on va rious aspects of the political and economics situation in Central and Eastern Europe.

Apart from native Czech, I speak English, have a working knowledge of French, moderately advanced Russian, and basic German.

Thank you a lot.

Tereza

www.un.org  look for the section on careers and all the jobs are listed there - you will have to create a profile, its cumbersome but from there you can apply for jobs all over the world.

I'm pretty sure you're looking for someone who knows someone who knows someone at the UN.

I do know my neighbour got a job there by just harassing the HR people constantly!

He's a security guard at one of the gates, but looks like you're looking in a different area - but that's all I know about UN jobs.  NGO jobs are great too!

Thank you for your advices, I´ve created my profile on many UN websites already, but how Lia mentioned, I think it´s easier to look for a job personally.
