looking for free/ inexpensive swiss bank account when living out of Switzerland...

Had a nasty shock when I told Credit Suisse I was leaving Switzerland; they are going to charge me 40CHF a month to keep my account open... Its free as long as I'm in Switz.

Does anyone know of a free or at least cheaper bank I can have an account at when I'm back in the UK?

Thanks in advance...

How much to the Cantonal banks charge? Or Post Finance? (both are normally cheaper than CS or UBS).

Raiffeisen may also be cheaper, esp since theyre Austrian, but operate widely in Switzerland as well as a high st bank.

How how about transferring to HSBC or Lloyds or Barclays, or RBS Coutts here whilst youre still res in CH... with a view of keeping the offshore acct in parallel to your UK one? May also be less...

Bon Chance

Try the Post Finance. You can live abroad and keep an account with them. They will charge you with something like 5 CHF/month.

Offshore finance is far from free. Besides all of the British banks operating here only do wealth management...

Yeah I think I would try cantonal bank, post finance or migros bank. Those might be ok...

Are you leaving Switzerland for good? If yes why not just close the account and send everything to your UK account?
