Hi guys,

I wonder if there is any poker (texas hold 'em) bootcamp in Geneva that is intensive and could last a few days?

I dun mind instead you suggesting camps in other locations like london or monte carlo. willing to take days off to travel.

You won't be able to find anything like that in Geneva, not sure about elsewhere.

You can find info on poker tournaments / events at buy-in.ch (in French), and you can play (cash game) poker at the casinos in Annemasse, Divonne and Saint Julien.

If you're serious about learning poker though, these are not the best places to start. I can recommend the book Getting started in hold'em by Ed Miller, and you could start the the low stakes on a poker site such as Pokerstars or Full Tilt to get an idea of the game.

I expect that you'll be able to do poker course / boot camps in the US. If you can afford it, Las Vegas is amazing (and if you plan it well not very expensive), and I know that there are poker cruises that used to be quite popular.

You can play Poker Stars website on an iPad or even an iPhone.  They have limited supply "play money", or you can play for real money in the 1cent/2cent cash games.  There are also tournaments where you get 2000 chips for $1.  They even have freeroll tournaments with cash prizes.   It's good practice if you want to play for free.

Don't play online for 'play money'; the gameplay simply isn't realistic when there's nothing to win or lose. Instead, play at the lowest-stake games; you can play tournaments for as little as $1 (or less, not sure) and there you'll find a better (but not great) game.

That's why I never play online any more. Unfortunately even the casinos around Geneva are too high stakes to just go and try your luck.

If you travel on occasion try in other locations; there are great casinos all over Europe (and elsewhere) where they offer low-stakes.

Also have a look at YouTube; lots of videos there to teach you basics.
