public transport in Geneva

I'm looking at staying in a place near Geneva Hospital in Plainpalais and I will be interning at the UN at Paquis Nations. I am having difficulty finding out how I would get there every morning on public transport is somebody able to help? It is only about 4.2km would it be possible to walk this distance or are there highways and streets without sidewalks in the way?

Thanks for your help!

As far as I know, there are a river and a lake between both places and not sure if there is any bridge. Don't forget your swimsuit when commuting .-)

Yes there is bus 5 and also tram 15 from Plainpalais to Nations without change.

No highway without sidewalk in downtown Geneva. Geneva is not LA.

Thanks for your help,

I have found bus 5 on this site http://tpg.hafas.de/hafas/tp/query.exe/fn?ld=1.1&seqnr=4&ident=1x.0112851.1366131877&guiVCtrl_connection_detailsOut_setStatus_C1-1_allHalts=yes&OK#cis_C1-1

Is there anywhere you can find a map to get a visual of where all these stops are?

Nicolien, most of the bus/tram-stop names come from the street where they are.

So you just have to google-maps "rue goetz monin geneve" and "place des nations geneve" to have a visual look.

If you prefer to walk, it would take (I guess ?) 40 min. approx., may be through the old town of Geneva, then cross the lake on "pont du mont-blanc" (bridge), walk on the right bank (north bank) of the lake, and then into Avenue de France to the Nations.
