tax before leaving Switzerland

Hiii Happy New Yr!

I have a question About Tax.... emmm...not fun...

I didnt know and still am not sure whether I should have filed tax for 2013 as a working student with 5000 CHF/ a year in 2013 ( 2.5month with 2000 taxable monthly salary, 1780 sth aftertax.)

I am leaving switzeerland and emailed the office whether I should be there. They mailed a tax documents for 2013 and asked me to return by 31 MArch 2015. Inside the documents, there was a small colorful outlet stating the delayfor the 2013 tax was March 2013....

Any suggestion with it?  Was it something serious, having missed the deadline?

Thanks!

new to the country, thought everything was taxed already and no need to file anything as a student....

Thanks!!!

Hi Sarah,

What is most probably is that you just need to fill the form. Your total income for the year 2013 is too low to apply any positive taxation, so the ammount you will need to pay is "0.00"..., but still is better to fill the form.

I case you've been deducted "à la source", they might give some money to you.

Good luck!

you can also use GE tax  to help you do your tax forms, go to

http://www.getax.ch/

And you will see the link to download the program that will easily generat all the forms automatically for 2013.

Buthercup is right, just prepare them and mail them off with the 'Certificate Salaire', if you never got one from your employer. If not, you need to request/insist they send you one by post or even better by email/scanned.
