If you need temporary assistance and you need a last ditch effort for a few days you might be able to make connections at hospitality.org and couchsurfers.net. They are more for people who look to trade temp accomodations while traveling or provide free accomodations, but you might find some good contacts through them. Also this site has some offers for let available.
