You can also try Pneus Egger in Vernier (close to Ikea)- They have an on line quote if you know tyre size and type.

Hi Greg,

I have a nice set of 4 original VW/Audi black steel rims with M+S winter tyres already fitted for sale.  The tyre size is 205/55R16 91H (5x112).  The tyres have around 5mm tread remaining.  They are good for a VW Golf and Audi A3.  The offer is posted on glocals with pictures.  The steel rims are in excellent condition and the tyres are good to go for this winter season.  It will cost you around 100CHF to have tyres fitted onto your existing rims at pneusclaude and steel rims stop you messing up your lovely alloys over the winter.

Have a look at the advert or PM me on here.  I am in Geneva/Meyrin.

Cheers

Kevin

Hi Greg,

I may have the answer to your problem and the opportunity to save some money :) I have a nice set of 4 original VW/Audi black steel rims with M+S winter 'weathermaster' tyres already fitted for sale.  The tyre size is 205/55R16 91H (5x112).  The tyres are in good consition and have around 5mm tread depth remaining.  They are good to go for a VW Golf and Audi A3.  The offer is posted on glocals with pictures.  The steel rims are in excellent condition and the tyres are good to go for this winter season.  It will cost you around 100CHF to have 4 tyres fitted onto your existing rims at pneusclaude.  The advantage of steel rims is they stop you messing up your lovely alloys over the winter.

I recommend you to order your tyres on www.123pneus.fr. They can be send to https://pneu74.com/ in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois (French Border). Also, they can be set there on your car. It is the best deal I found in the region.

Hi there!

Not yet, but..."Winter is coming", as is our first winter in Switzerland (Geneva ok...), we would like to know what would be your advise concerning which type of "winter tyres" do you recommend for GVA?.

I heard there is not much snow in the roads in GVA and its boundaries, but do you recommend a "full-winter" tyre if you plan to travel to the mountains abroad?

Or do you think a "all-weather" tyre would be acceptable?

Here I attach a link that my support my doubt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stF4HkVUG5A#action=share

Thank you so so much in advance!!

David

Not compulsory but problematic with insurance in case of incident, considered contributory negligence:

https://www.ch.ch/en/winter-tyres/

Good place to buy is pneus123, they will deliver to local garage and have standard fees for fitting and disposal, probably up to around 50% lower than main dealer prices:

Don't use all-weather tires, they don't guarantee a good grip on ice and snow. Mount winter tires during winter, and summer tires during summer.

Here are the results of the latest TCS test on winter tires (2017): https://www.tcs.ch/mam/Digital-Media/PDF/Booklets/test-de-pneus-d-hiver.pdf
