A portuguese in Lausanne during Christmas - want to meet some locals

Hi there Smile
I'm spending Christmas and new year with family in Lausanne (from 24 Dec to 1st January). I'd like to meet with some locals (swiss or expats) and maybe do some sightseeing, some sports or have a cup of coffee/drink. But, please bare in mind that most things for me as a portuguese are very, very expensive, so I was hoping of not spending a lot of money. Most of all, the important thing to me is to have a good time and meet new people.
Also, I'm interested in finding a job in Switzerland in the IT sector in the next few months, if possible in the Lausanne area, and I was also hoping of earing the experiences from expat people like me that managed to do that.

Please let me know if you want to get together.

Merry Christmas to all

Best regards,
Daniel

Hi there.

Welcome .Don't forget, there several events over Christmas where you can sign up for free and come and join us.

Yes,it IS expensive here(and not everyone on Glocals has a well-paid job.You are not alone!)

Hope you find something you'd like to join in.

Hello!

Thanks for your answer. I understand your point about the events. My idea was to attend some events and meet some local people. I think the interesting thing about travelling is to meet the places but also to know more about the way local people live. And although I'm not the kind of person that is always saving money obsessively, I have to be objective... some events do involve going out and spending big amounts of money ( 50 CHF or more)  and that is in fact way too expensive for someone coming from Portugal, even for me working as an engineer. The other thing is that isn't that much variety of events as in previous weeks, because many people went home to celebrate Christmas. So I'm basically reduced to dinners and other similar events.

I will see how it goes in the next few days...

Have a nice 2013

Best Regards,

Daniel

Well, personally,I almost never pay 50 CHF for a Glocals event.

At our Xmas Eve drinks you could spend under 20 (as I did) and for our Xmas lunch you ,in theory could have .spent nothing..The New Year's Eve party is just 10 CHF to get in.Many walks are free.....Laughing
