British nanny looking for new job or to start 'maman de jour/childminding' business - Can anyone help please?!

Hello Everyone,

I am a British nanny who is looking for a new position to start in January. Preferably I am looking for full time however I am open to accepting multiple part time or nanny share positions.

If I can not find work then I am interested in starting my own 'maman de jour/childminding' business. Has anyone done this or have insight into doing this? And most importantly would anyone be interested in this service?

I have over 2 years’ experience in childcare, the last 6 months working as a nanny for a Swiss family with 2 children aged 2 and 4 years old. Unfortunately this position now ends at the end of December. Before this I worked for 8 months working as a nanny for a family with a baby who was 2 weeks old when I started and an older child who was 3 years old. Before working as a nanny I worked in a day nursery in the baby room and I have also worked in a ski resort holiday nursery. Whilst working in the nursery I started gaining my experience to become a nanny by working a few days a week with a family whose child was 1 when I started. I carried on working for them when I started my full time nanny job and was with them for 18 months.

I hold a CACHE Level 2, Award, Certificate and Diploma in Childcare and Education.

I hold a full clean English driving license and am pediatric first aid trained.

I hold an enhanced CRB disclosure and nanny insurance.

I speak basic French, German and Italian however since being in Switzerland my French and German has improved and I am currently taking classes for French.

I have a 'B' permit and health insurance and I really do not want to return to the UK so please help!

I am more than willing to send my C.V to people who are interested. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.

I look forward to hearing from some of you soon.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi

You could also look under the jobs section of the Englishforum.ch to see whether anyone in the Geneva area is looking for a babysitter although they tend to be over the other side of CH towards Zürich.

Alternatively, try English Talk Switzerland and place your own advertisement there. Good luck.

Hi Lauren,

As we are a South African people living in a Vevey area and we are considering looking for a Nanny service or some sort of help next year. My wife and I are expecting our third child in June next year and we have 2 boys of ages 4.5 and nearly 6.

Let me know if you are available for the Vevey area and if so, please send us you CV.

I can't commit to anything at the moment but a part time Nanny service would be a possible option for us.

My email is [email protected]

Let me know.

Hi Lauren,

I live in Le Mont Sur Lausanne and we are looking for a nanny from now until end of august. We have a 3 year old son and another one due in June. We're looking for someone who can come to our house during the day and in the coming months generally be on hand to help me out with kid stuff.

If you're still looking and would like to talk more, please do call me on 079 555 25 89.

Re maman de jour stuff I'd recommend advertising on bebe.ch or contacting florence helg, a local baby planner who may have a rich address book for you to share.

Good luck!

Dear Lauren,

I came across your post while surfing on the internet. A colleague and friend of mine is currently looking for a full-time nanny with your qualifications/experience. She is based in lausanne. Your post is 1-year old but you are probably no longer available but I thought I'd try anyway.

Thanks and best,

Germana Barba

Dear Germana,

I am looking for a job as a nannny as well! Is your friend still looking for a nanny? ( although maybe it is late but I thought I give it a try :) )

A little bit about myself:

My name is Timea and I am a 30 years old Hungarian nursery teacher and child psychologist. I am looking for a job as a nanny/childminder/babysitter eighter two days a week(mondays and tuesdays) or full time.

I am independent, experienced and families find me respectful and assuming my role perfectly.

I lived in London for 6 years and was working as a nanny for nearly 5 years with the same family. Here in Switzerland I was looking after 3 boys as a live-in nanny.I started to look after Charlotte in march 2013 when she was only 7 weeks old. She turned 1 already therefore she is going to creche 3 times a week.

I have 12 years experience working and looking after babies, infants and children. I have a permit B, and a valid swiss drivers licence. I live in Paudex.

References are available.

Thank you!
Have a nice evening!

Timea

Hi Timea,

I know there is one family is looking for a native English speaker as their childminder. But they don't live in Lausanne. If you are interested, I'd like to give you their contact infomation.

Jasmine

Hi Lauren,

You seem nice and are aparently very experienced. Just wanted to ask you where you would prefer to work and what your rate is? We are having a baby in june, and most likely we´ll choose a standard daycare center because all nannies/maman-du-jour are much more expensive than the daycare... But depending on the monthly cost, we might re-consider. Anyways, I just thought I´d ask.

Thank you and good luck,

/Emely
