Kombucha SCOBY

I saw that there was a Kefir Grains thread which seems to have added Koumbucha, but I thought starting a SCOBY thread might catch a few other people!

I'm just starting out on the idea of Kombucha and I'm looking for a SCOBY, does anyone in the Lausanne area happen to have one spare?

Alastair

P.S. For those wondering what it is ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCOBY

Kombwhatsit's a lovely refreshing drink for the upcoming sizzling european summer, naturally sparkling on ice please. I've not heard tell of this scoby fella. I'll give that a go and maybe try combining with my home made ginger ale. Thanks Alistair et cie for this refreshingly well timed threadimithingy, please let us know how your further experiments go.. :)

HI,

I have used my SCOBY for some time now, and it has been very nice. Lately though, in the last months, I have noticed that it does no longer work well. It is too vinegary and doesn't eat the sugar like it did. Do you know what it means? Is the SCOBY no longer good?

One thing I can tell is that I often left it too long in the same tea, without changing it.

THank you for your help.

I was actually looking for one myself.  My sister happens to have one. Anybody willing to share their trips?

Hi all,

I have a very active scoby named "Louise" which seems to clone itself every 5 days. I would be happy to share the clones. If interested, please message me.

Regards,

Wanbun

Hi there, just got to Geneva and would like to brew some of my own Kombucha. I see this is a bit old, but is there anyone out there that has a Scoby to give away? Thanks!
