Looking for female English-speaking friends in Lausanne

Hello group,

My name is Helen and I am from England (near Manchester).  I have one daughter aged 5 months and I have just arrived in Lausanne with my husband, who is originally from Lebanon.  He speaks French, English and Arabic fluently, but unfortunately I only have ‘schoolgirl standard’ French, so that’s my first challenge.  We are moving here for his work.  We have been living/working abroad for more than 4 years, mainly in the Middle East and Africa.  This is our first period abroad with a baby, so I am keen to make friends for information and support as soon as possible!  I would really love to hear from English speakers (any age or nationality) who can give me any advice on things to do, groups to join or who would like to meet up.  Many thanks! Helen

Welcome to Lausanne!

A good start is coming along to the various glocals events, there is quite a range.

If you knit or craft (or want to learn) there is group who meets up @ the Starbucks in front of Co-op City every thursday around 5:30. We are all mid-20s to mid-30s and your baby is more than welcome - she can join our other very young (3 months) member !

Hi Helen,

Welcome to Lausanne! I was brought up in Lausanne before living abroad - including a couple of years in London. My  husband has lived in Manchester for quite a few years before moving to London where we met. We also have a little boy who is 20 months old.

Feel free to drop me a message if you want to organize something so we can meet-up and so that I can provide you with a few tips about making the move to Lausanne  smoother!

Take care

Isa

Hi Helen

My name is Liz, I am from Surrey originally, been living in Switzerland for the last 7 or so years.  I hope you are settling in well so far.  My boyfriend and I live in Vevey. We could meet up for lunch or coffee if you would like, easiest for me would be Vevey as I work there if you feel like coming over one day.  Send me a message if you would like to meet up and we can arrange.

Cheers

Liz
