Hi, I am new to Lausanne and I am looking for some trails near Lausanne. I have seen a bunch of trail maps, but none of them really tell me where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding mountain bike routs?
Thanks, Marc

Hi Marc,
I believe that the area is better fitted for road biking. You will have more luck putting on tight shorts and staying on the cement.
Cheers,
LT

I quote all, and I am also looking forward to find people more or less at my level (I am a beginner on MTB but have been a cyclotourist with road bikes) that are willing to ride around on sundays or if you know about already existing groups.
Thanks and Cheers!

There are some great trails starting up at Chalet-a-gobet. There is a signposted route for 10 and 20 km (and 30 if you combine them both). I was up there last night with a local club (Cyclophile) and it was really good having a local guide - so many trails in the area that I did not know about. Its still very muddy and quite technical in places at the moment, so if your new to the sport it may pay to wait till things dry out. To get up there, Just catch the M2 till the top and ride the rest.
Near Chalet-a-gobet is a Mtn Bike Confidence course. Its a lot of fun and where I run Mtn Bike skills training. I have not run any courses this season as its a bit wet and slipery still, but plan to do something when summer finally arrives.
Happy Biking!

woods around Chalet-a-Gobet is great for afterwork within Lausanne. Zimmo is right, there are two routes marked off with red triangle/two red dot signage. I *think* however someone has been moving them around/turning the arrows on some of them. May be I am mistaken, I think the 20 km route changed a bit at some point. All still very fun though! I found the trails marked with blue offer a bit more challenge then the unpaved/road kinds of sections, so something worth watching for as well.
There is a route which runs up the stream by Saint-Sulpice closer to the universities as well if that proves to be more convienient.
Happy riding!
