URGENT looking for a room or studio in Lausanne

I'm helping a friend search for an apartment in Lausanne and we are not finding anything good!

My friend is male 22, British. Just got a great new job in Lausanne. He wants a flatshare in order to help him meet people, get to know Lausanne better and get his permit. Although a studio/apartment would also be acceptable too.

Most rooms are for women and the ones for men ask for gay men! (no offence to gays but this is just weird requirement!).

The "best" website is easywg which is awful! Not user friendly and hardly any replies even after you pay the 50CHF membership fee. Students.ch has only old listings, immostreet and immoscout are no better. They produce the same listings that are on annibis!

So my question is are we missing something? Are there any other sights? Does anyone know of someone looking to rent their room or studio?

hi angie,

keep in mind that without his residence permit agencies will not rent to him. a sublet or flat share might be more successful. also, hie employer would be better placed to find him something temporarily until permits are sorted out.

The tourist office in Lausanne has a listing of flats/homes for rent though - as already pointed out by Epicure - how can your friend have a new job in Switzerland yet not have a work permit?

Furthermore, I have hardly ever come across ads prohibiting homosexuals from renting/sharing flats; furthermore the city of Lausanne prohibits discrimation of any kind.
