Strangely enough, for the first time since we have lived here [8 years] we decided to go to Leysin for the day on Friday. The drive there through Aigle and Le Sepay was lovely, but we were very disappointed with Leysin itself. It struck us as less than envigorating compared to other "resorts" in the surrounding areas. However, this is just a personal opinion and does not reflect others' view of the village of course.

Thanks for the feedback, shame I missed you. Leysin is the kind of place that people either like or not... It is not a typical mountain village with only cute mountain chalets...although it does have some Leysin developed as a place where people with TB came for treatment due to heliotherapy. Hence many atypical clinics were built, these were later transformed into hotels to support the growing tourist industry and now many of these have been converted to international school buildings. The big advantage of Leysin as opposed to the typical tourist resorts is that due to the international schools, it never has any real quiet period, there is something happenning all year round...so I love it. 

If you fancy another trip out - try Concise which is my main residence, it is a quiet lakeside town on the Neuchatel lake.
