Winter tyres

Hi all

I'm searching for some advice on winter tyres. I have Swiss registered car an wounderder if it was compulsory to get winter tyres from the 1st November?

If so where are the best places to get tyres from and will they store the summer ones?

Thanks in advance

Richard

You will find the best deals here:

Pneus Claude
rte du Bois-de-Bay 71 (Google maps)
1242 Peney
+41 (22) 753-1405

Excellent service, friendly personnel and they can even store your tires for the season. As for the choice, you can check the TCS web site for a review of 37 different winter tires (FR/DE/IT).

Winter tires are not mandatory in Switzerland, but if you get stuck in the snow with summer tires you may be fined. Be aware the winter tires are useful not only on snow, but also on cold roads (surface temperature below 7°C as I recall) It follows that they are useful even in Geneva where there is almost no snow.
