Hi Luzern. After moving here for work and spending months on the "where do we actually live" question (near the office? cheaper towns out on the S-Bahn? which areas are quiet? where do the taxes bite less?), I stopped fighting cantonal PDFs and built a tool instead.

VivaMap (https://vivamap.ch/en/) rates places across Switzerland on 9 livability dimensions from official open data, 0-10 scale, comparable across the canton and beyond. Two things tend to land with the Lucerne crowd: the transport + nature scores (make the "is this S-Bahn town livable" question concrete), and the tax explorer (/taxes/) showing where a specific household, say "dual-income couple, no kids, 250k", pays less, including the low-tax spots people mention but rarely quantify.
