...The Itch
So many magazines, so many newspapers, so many articles, so many books... there is no way to read them all. Perhaps, a lot does not deserve to be read at all. I find myself skipping a lot, stopping at cartoons or something, for a quickie smile, and then moving on.

Every now and then, an essay or story just grabs you. I read a few paragraphs, and then I realize I am reading all the words, wanting to learn more. One such article is from the New Yorker. It is long, but captivating. Its about a medical mystery... about itch, that need to scratch!

Now, this article is not about how very pleasurable slow and light scratching can be in absence of an itch. Many turn into a puddle of syrup when their backs or scalps are light scratched. And then, there is that soft movement of fingernails over skin, a gentle bite on the neck, a masterful nibble on the ear... all so amazing and pleasurable!

Instead, the New Yorker article is about a strange medical condition when the brain sends wrong signals. Through the Yikes!, Oh no!, and Hmmm!, one is left with this feeling how fascinating our bodies are.
