I definitelly share those interests, although I am more modern rock and metal its rare to find any kind of rock/metal fans in Geneva so this is definitely welcome. :D

Alice Cooper, Motely Crue, Poison, this kind of things, or for newer bands Crashdiet is really cool.

Bella, you could start a glocals group and post up some events. Looks like there are at least 2 metal festivals in Switz this year, Gravel Attack and Extremefest. Not my cup of tea though.

Death Metal is not really my kind of bands either and those festivals are not in Geneva, to go to other cities you have to spend a lot of money on transport and a place to sleep, but thanks anyway Nicolas.

I'm looking to meet local people in Geneva for friendship, who would share my precise musical taste. ;)

now a few years a go no question, but if tommy lee and slash are matured and not knocking back the vodka/jd by the bottle (amoungst other things) will it be a disapointment or can they still put on a good show sober???

Aren't you guys neglecting the local boys right here who where a major band in the 1980s in Los Angeles even.... namely Krokus! They had a new album out in 2010 and have toured in 2010, 2011. I saw them twice and the still ROCK big time! So far no new dates but stay tuned!

I saw Metallica/Megadeth/Antrax in Poland about 2 years ago or so. It was the biggest thing I've ever been to. It was cool to be at something like this once in my life but personally i prefer when there's less people so you can at least get close enough to be able to see what's on the stage.

Sweden Rock festival sounds so great!!! I'd love to be able to go!

there are hard rock fans hidden here on glocals, slinking like cats in the shadowy background alleys of the political forum that only the boldest dare visit. but just strike a power chord and we'll all erupt from our respective hiding places into the light! 

There area handful of rock bands in Geneva... They play mostly covers... There is a rock night at Usine but on the whole this is a dubstep like of town!! I travel to see rock bands like Y&T, Thin Lizzy, Quireboys etc.. Cos this place is a ghost town for rock music on the whole.

I already got my ticket!! So if you guys are fans of this kind of rock, well you're mostly welcome if you want to join me.

And be sure to check out the Fête de la Musique in Geneva on June 22-23-24 with a culminant local brew of swiss rock minstrels "ça va chier" playing covers on sunday evening 19.00 :)

There was also some quite youngish but still fun rock/metal scenery yesterday at the Fête de la Musique in Nyon, just by the lake, organized by NyonCore. Be sure to check it next year!

I know! Alice Cooper is the best! But the tickets are so expensive, and then the train, trip etc, i cant spend this kind if money at the moment.

Is there somewhere on internet an overview with all the bands playing in the area. Using apps like Gigbeat and Bandsintown to figure out what is playing here...not so much till so far.

Hi, I am a big hard rock fan but my tastes go all the way back to the 60s starting with groups like Cream, Led Zeppelin, etc. I also like some of the groups from the 80s. Looking at nowadays have any of you guys checked out some blues rockers who have some hard rock guitar players such as Gary Clarke jr? I am also a big fan of jack white especially his concert stuff.

Any one here like the new wave of swedish sleaze rock kind of music?

80s rock is not only about glam rock.

It was a time when such bands as Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and others saved hard rock from the punk invasion and here is a nice gem of the early 80s:

From 1969 with Led Zeppelin to the latest symphonic, prog or death metal, this music has evolved during nearly 45 years more than any other music can do.

Well, maybe "evolved" was not the most appropriate word. Fact is that you still find a great quality in today's bands.

i never stopped at any decade and am still a big music buyer. Don't forget: the artists need your money to live and create!
