Atonement (Reviens-moi) - Nice
Atonement is a love story set just before and during World War II. It is a big production with this British flavour all around it. It shows how seeing something does not mean you understand it, appearances can be misleading. How jealousy can have a dramatic impact on our lives and how sometimes you do not measure the consequences of your acts. How the bad guy is not the one you thought of and judge without knowing... (even the guy that is victim of the injustice would have blamed an innocent)...

The scene on the Normandy beach is just fantastic, scary, sad and dramatic but makes you think a lot about the damage a war does on soldiers. I think politicians do not realise the sacrifice they ask to an entire generation. These 10 minutes are just amazing and it is worth seeing the movie just for that part.

The movie is rather classical but well done. I think the book is better. I read a few from Ian McEwan and loved them but just could not find the time to read this one... so many pending novels to read.

I love the last few minutes of the movie, I will not tell here what they are because it would spoil it. I found them very poetic... but then again I am a dreamer so I am slightly biased. But I like to think what she said is true...

I agree with your review, but just to say that the war scene was not Normandy but Dunkirk, Nord-Pas-de-Calais . . . still very effective ...
