Benjamin Button
i've got to say it's one great love story, to put together with the other improbable or impossible love stories. it's well done, although i'm not all too keen on the make-up for Benjamin and Daisy when they're in their 20s. it makes them look too fake. but the rest is good, if a bit long towards the end. i don't think it deserves 13 oscar nominations, but hey, that's just my point of view.

unfortunately, i think Brad Pitt plays Joe Black all over again - i realise it's a similar character in many ways, but he has the exact same facial expressions. Cate Blanchett is more convincing.

on a side note, my cousin was the third assistant editor of the movie, so look out for her name in the credits (Leslie Webb) if you go watch it!

I've not seen this movie yet, but it's on my to-see list. I can just imagine what you mean about Brad playing Joe Black again...he was cute in Joe Black, but very wooden in some scenes (however, i did love that movie back then!!!). Cate Blanchett is always fab. I actually saw her once at a party in Geneva. She's stunning!

Congratulations to your cousin for being involved in the film! How exciting!

Saw the film last night and was not convinced. First of all it was too Forrest Gump inspired. There were a lot of great ideas but put together they just didn't seem to work, Fincher was trying to hard to squeeze that tear out of our eyes.

Folks,

I agree that 13 Oscar nomination were too much and Brad had to pay the bill during last Oscar's event. However, I liked the idea of trespassing others life in the opposite way. Somehow it reminded me of Gracia Marquez' novel "Love in the time of the Cholera". Minda you're right on Brad and Joe Black but his acting gives this movie the spirit.:D

I made the mistake of seeing Benjamin Button the day after seeing Slumdog Millionaire. The pace and length of Button in comparison to Slumdog had my expectations too high. Where Slumdog had me interested from the opening scene Button's slow pace and slow beginning scenes tok a while to adjust.

That being said, I don't think Brad Pitt did any sort of spectacular job. He seems really stiff like he had a bat stuck in the wrong place for most of the movie. When he reached the youngest age where brad pitt was still standing in as benjamin button his face was expressionless and it seemed like his head was floating above his body.

I like Brad Pitt better when his movies lean more towards being funny.

Inspired from a short novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald this is again an example of a movie and literary work that have little in common.

I will not discuss the merits of the one or the other but just comment on the movie. It is too slow paced and it would have been nice if the narrator's voice (Benjamin Button) was becoming younger as well. He sounds like an old guy all through the movie. This being said there is a lot of sweet and nice moments that make this movie pleasant to watch.

Not surprisingly hollywood made a love story out of the novel. Most of us want to believe that an impossible match can work, because we want to believe it is possible that love is above everything... but in the end the character that had most to lose of the two, i.e. Benjamin, just shies away from the story. They have the merit of having tried. They did love each other but did not try to make it work despite the odds being against them.

13 oscar was too much but this is a big hollywood machine thus no wonder it was nominated so often, but it lacks a little supplement of soul... luckily it got only a fraction of the prizes.
