I agree. It's a great movie and say what you will about Leo, but he did a great job with the role. Some parts are tough to handle though, esp related to the children...I cried and cried...

This is a powerful, beautiful film although some parts are hard to watch. It really makes you think, everyone should see it. And, surprising to me, Leo did a great job, he totally deserves the nomination for best actor.

Blood Diamond was a good film, however being South African I found leo's accent not correct, and not constant- unfortunately, this broke the directors desired effect (and was sometimes laughable). So yes, it's a good movie but not for people from Zim or SA.

Australian at first, then realised it was supposed to be SA, having quite a few friends from SA I didn't think it was spot on, but he did try bless him.
Although it was a very good performance from Leo, he has really matured as an actor, and everytime I see him in a film he gets better and better, just hope he continues this way.

Not a bad performance from Leo but indeed, it must have been a lot of effort for him to change his accent for no good reason. While it is true that South Africans can have a somehow similar accent because their mother tongue might be Afrikaans, Rhodesians/Zimbabweans have never spoken Afrikaans and therefore, you'll never hear such an accent there.
