I was hoping to watch the movie soon, but have heard criticism about the movie on the radio in my neck of the woods. Seems people, male and female, didn't like the fact that he was blond! GMX has published articles indicating that people have actually written to the studios complaining about this and all sorts of other things. It seems indeed like most still perfer Sean Connery of course. What do they say in GE?

Women have a better role:
- women have the power
- women control the money
James bond is like a baby:
- he does not know what to eat other than bread and butter and some stuff on it
- he likes only drinks with bubbles
- he needs his momy to help with the electronic toy
James understands blonds:
- his only gadget is for fixing broken hearts
- he knows quite a bit about jewlery
Still a nice action movie with good suspense but could have been better entitled than james bond...
Cheers,
B.

I went to watch it with a friend (male) and my girlfriend.
I like it, as did my friend, however my girlfriend didn't really do, as she felt it was "not really a true james bond movie".
Too bad the poker game was so unrealistic, but well, it had to be spectacular :)

a meaner bond for our nastier times. i was sick and tired of the fabric softened pierce brosnan.
daniel craig, is rough, great eyecandy and and has balls of steel, you know what i mean if you already have seen it.
judi dench as m did an amazing job. I am quite happy that they rebooted the bond series, same as batman it became quite cartonnish over the years.

I like the new Bond, I don't care that he is blond!
They did a good job of taking away the smarm and giving it the edge of the original books without the 'emo' attitude of Timothy Dalton....
But having said that , they could of put more cars, gadgets and women in this film along with it! it somehow felt like any other film, not quite Bond..
But then Casino Royale is not the best Bond book either so maybee the next outing will be able to merge more of the 'traditional' aspects of bond from the books, with the 'traditional' aspects from the films and give us something that will be a good action movie that is decidely Bond :-)

Daniel Craig met and exceeded my expectations. This should be an especially sweet victory for him considering the beating he took from the press when he was first cast as Bond.
I prefer the older movies with Sean Connery and Casino Royale gave me the same feeling while delivering something new at the same time.

As a huge Sean Connery fan, I must say I wasn't expecting much, but Daniel Craig is fantastic and the film was great. The special effects and amount of character in the film really didn't make me miss all those gadgets much. I hope Craig continues with the Bond series!

Okay, so this thread is from a year ago, but I can be a little slow at seeing movies.
I am not a Bond fan. I think Sean Connery is the best Bond, but For Your Eyes Only was my favorite one when I was younger.
I thought Casino Royale was excellent. Not a lot of surprises as far as the plot goes, but what a ride! The opening chase scene through the construction site was like watching a video game from the 90s as they literally bounced from floor to floor and off of equipment.
My sister says that Daniel Craig has signed on for four more and while I wasn't too keen on a blond Bond and I swear they enhance his eye color with contacts, I look forward to the next installments!

Since when has any Bond movie been about the plot or the Bond girl? For me it was always about the spectacular opening and men in shorts. IMHO DC is the most virile of all the Bonds, Roger Moore the worst, and George Lazenby the most forgettable. I do believe, however, that Clive Owen would have made a great Bond in the more traditional tall, dark and handsome mode. That said I enjoyed the movie very much including the performance of Mads Mikkelson (sp?) as the Euro-villan.
