However, this is not the beautiful and fairy little world that Walt Disney often presents. Here we are back at the routs of fairy tales. The movie has its quite scary moments and if you go with your kid be sure that she/he is not completely raised in a bubble where everything is perfect, cosy and nice.
This is a good illustration of Bruno Bettelheim's theory of the importance of fairy tales, the good old ones that were quite scary in their unfolding, with a happy end, but nonetheless quite challenging episodes. He insists that this different fairy tales give children of different age an illustration that the outside word is tough but that although your are little you can overcome difficult situations. Bruno Bettelheim illustrates how those stories give references, clues and keys as how to live in the real world. If you have kids or not I recommend you to read that book.
In a nutshell an excellent cartoon with its funny and scary moments but certainly highly enjoyable. The esthetic can be discussed but I found it quite entertaining.
