Godfather - the missing years
OK its by no means a great book destined to win prizes but as a "holiday read" to get battered in suitcases or backpacks then whipped out in airport lounges - I really liked this one. Wineberger tries to fill in the gaps of Mario Puzos story and explain how Fredo comes to take sides against the family. Gives an interesting portrait of the moral descent of Fredo Corleone who begins as the sad "regular" guy who is consumed by jealousy coupled with the need for love and approval of his super high achiever (in their particular line of work) brothers and father.
