This is a typical Indiana Jones, adventure, action and fun. The movie is good but nothing exciting. The problem I had is that the construction is always the same... You have the fantastic side, you have the self references, you have adventure, some too farfetched scenes, ok the bad guys are not the Nazis but the Russian communists... but you have the cliff scene... it is entertaining but too much of the same.
In a nutshell the movie is good but nothing more because it is too much relying on old recipes and not innovating.
I thought it was terrible. I was crushed!
I am very easy when it comes to films. I suspend disbelief like a used kleenex and am ready to like a movie. I love the Indiana Jones franchise and couldn't wait for this film to be released.
There may be spoilers in this, so don't read ahead if you don't want to know...
The movie lost me almost right away from the beginning, the opening sequence took soooo long that I was bored and already looking to escape. I thought Marion's first appearance totally saved the film, but that feeling of relief only lasted about five minutes. Headed right back downhill. I'm actually surprised I made it all the way to the end. And the Marion storyline didn't make a whole lot of sense because she was in the first film and never really came up again, so it's not like the audience knew he had been carrying a torch for her all these years. But I was glad to see her back even if it was kinda random. And the alien thing... are you freakin' kidding me? Really didn't work for me.
If you know me and my preference for having films on dvd, let me put my feelings this way, I'm not sure I'll buy the film on dvd when it's released.
