Planet earth - un jour sur terre
This is an excellent documentary with stunning picture of our planet and different beautiful landscapes and animals. This planet is a gem... not doubt. The views of earth from the space are so beautiful!!!

I had great admiration for the ducklings jumping from their nest... what a way to start your life... and a lot of sympathy for the 'Paradisier' the tropical bird in the movie. If I recall correctly, the Tropical forest is 3% of the planet and hosts 50% of the fauna and flora. Deserts are 1/3 of land.

The documentary is beautiful and is a wake up call, like the Inconvenient Truth from Al Gore. The difference is that although Al Gore's documentary is to be seen, some of his scientific calls are questionable. In this documentary it shows only nature but tells us that the risk is that some of the species will disappear if we do not act. Now, wild life is cruel by itself, the history of our planet is made from species that did not survive even before we grew into a civilisation... nonethelss we all should do our part.

OK, I will never vote for the green party because I think green has not to be political... well actually in Switzerland you have now a right wing green party which is very good because it shows that it is an issue beyond left and right.

I am not a green freak but I do simple things. One, where possible I have light bulbs, the special ones that save a lot of energy, they cost more but it will not kill your budget. Two, I buy fresh products that do not come from who knows were if they are grown here around. I respect seasonality, not all the time but most of the time. Three, I sort my garbage (glass, aluminium, paper...). Finally, I plant threes in the Amazon every year... not personally obviously. There are many simple things that can be done by everyone.

Sorry for this patronizing few minutes but it is important.

In short this documentary is nice with beautiful landscapes and animals and worth seeing. Beside the end it is not moralising. The commentary is not great but it is not the most important thing. Be careful because I am not sure you can see it in English.
