I, too, want to say ‘RIP’.  It’s such sad news, but her great talent will be remembered, and deservcedly so.

Of course it is  very sad , when any human being dies before the natural span of their life, such as the 50,000 people who die each day of starvation or malnutrition.

However miss Winehouse's demise really does show up our obsession with celebrity culture. At roughly the same time Amy was  choosing to end her life, there were 92 people getting blown up or shot in Norway, but looking at the comments on Facebook and Twitter, one would have thought that Amy was the only news in town.

I had the misfortune to see Miss Winehouse in "concert" a couple of years back. She made Shane Mcgowan( of the Pogues) look sober and sound  tuneful.

Back to Black is undoubtably a good  album, though more so I  think due to the brilliance of Mark Ronson's production, than Amy's rather banal lyrics.

But as a body of work it does not stand beside some other alumni of the 27 club such as Jim   and Jimmy.

Stll i will say a little prayer for Amy, and my thoughts of condolence do extent to her family and close friends...... the living left behind

The Radio 4 interview with Tony Bennett was fascinating, but this is a beautiful, shivery performance. However she chose to lead her life, she had undeniable talent.
